This has been a sad & rough week for me emotionally. My aunt passed away and it was so unexpected. It shook our family. For those who don't know I was basically raised by all 6 of my aunts in some capacity. Having one of them leave here eternally was something I hadn't experienced yet, since the tragic death of my mother. And signaled for me a reality that I have been avoiding....the 'what happens when so & so.....' thoughts.
Going to the funeral this weekend provided good closure for me (it was a sad celebration...if that makes any sense?) and a mini family reunion you wish never had to happen under those circumstances.
Saying all of this....I knew to expect this care package from my upstream partner Urban Knitrix when I got back into town.I mentioned to her there really was no reason to rush the package since I knew I wouldn't be here. But it actually ended up being a really nice and sweet (literally) gift I was looking forward to in coming back home!
This package was for the E.E. Scarf Swap that I signed up for before the holidays. I never sign up for knitting swaps, as I hate the pressure. But with the long deadline and simple project with my E.E. sistahs I couldn't resist!
So opening up my mail box and seeing my urgent care package being the only thing fill up my box made the walk over worth it!
I got my yummy yummy chocolate covered cherries!! :o) Two balls of yarn specifically for the Mrs. Beeton Wristwarmers (as she noticed how I have been liking to make gloves/mitts lately) and my much awaited Bainbridge scarf in RED!!!!
Funny thing is I guessed who my secret pal was because we both read each other blogs consistently and she happened to talk about how her downstream partner already received the scarf she just knitted up! Bless her heart! I immediately guessed it was me, but she tried to fool me and said I was mistaken ;op
But I knew it!! So glad it was you gurl!!!! :oD
You were a great partner always sending me e-mail notes and e-cards!! And I am happy to now have a red version of the bainbridge scarf!
Also, Urban Knitrix felt bad about not getting my package out by the deadline (which I truly did not mind b/c I had a lot going on), so on the day of our exchange she sent me a gift certificate to use at Little Knits!!
SO unnecessary as I told her it wasn't a big deal and way above and beyond our swap value! THANK YOU!!! I already know what I am going to use it on! ;op (Noro sock yarn and a Noro pattern book I have been eyeing!)
You were a great swap pal Urban Knitrix taking the time to get to know me, and thank you for sending me some much needed special urgent care!!! It actually was right.on.time ;o)
Here is a quick pic of my brother & I from this weekend....I had to wear my glasses b/c my eyes were so toast (don't think you all have seen this look on me yet)
Everyone be blessed and go tell the ones you love, just how much you really do love them - no matter how hard it could be or what may be going on. For our time here is only as long as a blink of an eye.

Your swap package was great! She did a terrific job on the scarf! Wear it with pride.
You and your brother look so much alike. That is a really nice picture. Your glasses are very cute too! I don't know why you don't wear them more often.
Hugs your way!
How touching to get such a great package at this time.
Sounds like your swap partner was a really blessing, with perfect timing too. I love the reds she sent to you and can't wait to see what you make.

I am glad you came home to a wonderful gift to kind of lift your spirits.
*virtual hugs*
ps: have you read The Red Tent, by Anita Diamant? I really loved it; it helped me appreciate the significant roles my two Aunts played in my life (my Mom's sisters). Such a blessing.
I do like your glasses, they are very snazzy.
I'm am so sorry for your loss.
p.s. the glasses? Fabulous.
